Groups

Each of us has had experience being raised in group environments, either through our families, organized activities, school, or work. Group settings have a great impact on our growth and development as human beings.

Group counselling and therapy provides a setting where you can share issues and concerns, and gain awareness through the intervention of the group counsellor(s) or by observing, interacting, and receiving feedback from other group members. Typically, a group consists of six to twelve participants working with one or two clinical counsellors.

Here are some examples of group work we offer. If you are interested in participating, please contact us.

Mindfulness Practice for Managing Anxiety group
This group meets weekly for a consecutive 6 - 8 weeks to practice mindfulness approaches to bring us into the fullness of the moment, enriching our mind, body and spirit. By quieting the mind and cultivating a body-based presence, we are able to manage anxiety and reduce the stress of our busy, chaotic lives. Bridging East and West, combining ancient wisdom and modern therapeutic practice, we use breath and meditation to build self awareness and to cultivate a deeper connection to Self and others.

Psycho-spiritual Growth group
This group is for clients who have had some long-term or depth therapy, and who are interested to explore the bridge between psychological and spiritual work. Group members share and explore transpersonal, self-transcendent or spiritual aspects of the human experience. Issues discussed include significant concerns in life such as community, humanity, values, relationships, spiritual self-development, self beyond the ego, and expanded experiences of living.

Women’s Self Esteem group
This group meets weekly for a consecutive 8 - 10 weeks to share readings, insights, and journals from the accompanying Self Esteem Guided-Journal book – which covers topics including non judgment, psychological self portraits, new ways to see your childhood, the tyranny of “shoulds,” and the power of thoughts.

Grief & Loss group
Loss is a part of life, and grief is a natural part of the healing process. You may have experienced a loss of a loved one recently. Or it may have been years since you lost that special someone, yet you are still seeking closure. In this group, we honor and support each other’s journey of loving and letting go, through intimate sharing and creative modalities such as art, poetry, journaling, narrative, and more.
